Client Service Representative

Ria Arndt

Ria Arndt is our head Client Services Representative and it is often she who you are talking to on the phone or greeting you when you come in the door!


Ria joined the Family Pet Hospital team in September 2012. She previously worked for an animal hospital in Lakeville, MN for approximately 5 years before moving back “home”. She grew up in the Montfort area and currently resides in Dodgeville with her husband and young daughter. She is owned by Bowser, the Boston Terrier, and Ted, Gideon, and Harlow, her Cornish Rex cats. 

Shelby Schneider

Shelby joined Family Pet Hospital in April of 2017.  She is originally from Oakfield, WI and moved to the Platteville area in June 2016.  She has two Dachshunds at home named Romeo and Jasper.  In her free time she enjoys traveling, boating, and spending time outside with her pup! 

Veterinary Technicians

Melissa Unzicker, Technician/Community Outreach Coordinator

Melissa Unzicker is originally from the East Coast with over 27 years experience in the veterinary field and 5 years of teaching experience.  As our inventory manager, Melissa is our go-to person for ordering and keeping our hospital well stocked and running smoothly.  Melissa also coordinates all our community outreach programs from our annual Fall Food Drive to hospital tours!


Melissa co-habitates with her husband, Tony, and daughter, Courtney, a rottweiler (Rosie) and a cat (Roger).

Becky Schwab, CVT

Becky Schwab joined our team in May 2012.  Before coming to Family Pet Hospital  she worked as a veterinary technician and has over 8 years of veterinary technician experience.  She has a Golden Retriever, Harvey, and a cat, Oliver.  With their farming backgrounds, Becky and her husband Jerry have always enjoyed animals.   

Betty Hoff, CVT

Betty grew up on a dairy and beef farm in southwest Wisconsin. Her love for animals began at a very young age. Growing up with two older brothers, she had a variety of pets, ranging from lizards, guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, and hermit crabs. The list is endless.

Time went on and she continued to have a passion for helping animals and people at the same time. Having those two passions in mind, she decided to become a Certified Veterinary Technician and graduated in June of 2012. 


In her free time, she absolutely love to spend time with her two Arabian cross mares, enjoys going for hikes and walks with her three dogs; a dachshund mix named Chocolate, a hound mix named Chip, and a corgi mix named Mocha. She also has a Bearded Dragon named Spyro. 

Hillary Richardson, CVT

Hillary joined our team in June of 2017.  She is a recent graduate of the Kirkwood Community College Veterinary Technician program in Cedar Rapids, IA.  Hillary also works at our sister practice in Galena, IL so you might meet her at either practice!  


In her free time Hillary enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and spoiling her cat "Butters"

Alexa Peters, CVT

Alexa joined our team in the winter of 2017. 


Veterinary Assistants

Danielle Hegemann

Danielle joined our team in May of 2015. She graduated from University of Wisconsin - Platteville in May 2017. Starting in August 2018 she will be attending the University of Wisconsin - Madison for vet school. During her free time she enjoys hiking with her Golden Retriever, Bentley.

Ally Biroschik

Ally Biroschik joined the Family Pet Hospital team in the winter of 2017.  She is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville where she is studying Animal Science with an emphasis in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.  she has always had a passion for working with animals since she has been a young girl.  During breaks she enjoys spending time with her Miniature Australian Shepard, Ari, working on a dairy farm, and exhibiting dairy cattle. 

Samantha Hoerner

Samantha Hoerner is a senior at the University of Wisconsin- Platteville studying Animal Science with a Pre-Veterinary emphasis.  She is from Dubuque, IA and will be attending Iowa State Veterinary School in the Fall 2018. In her free time she enjoys reading, boating on the Mississippi with her family, and hanging out with her two dogs Riley and Rizzo.
